On an electric boat with a generator, should the batteries be closer to the generator or the motor?
The generator is about 20 ft from the motor and produces approximately twice the power that the motor consumes. I’m just curious to know whether there it makes any difference having the batteries closer to the generator or the motor
It should not make any difference if the batteries are closer to the motor or generator. The area of concern is the size of your cables connecting generator to battery and battery to motor. They should be appropriatly sized for amperage and length they are run. Other than those factors, it makes no difference if the batteries are closer to the generator or the motor…..I would be curious to know the size of the generator and motor and the entire setup….feel free to e-mail me.
