Overcharging an SLA Battery?
I was charging my 18ah 12v SLA Battery with my 20watt solar panel on a nice sunny day, and the battery was probably around 90% – 95% charged. Then, I checked the battery at the end of the day and the voltage was 16.5v My charge controller must have broken, how bad is the battery damaged?
Not too bad. It might have shortened the battery life a little bit, but that’s not enough to fry it in just a few hours.
I’ve been using Sunsaver controllers myself for more than 20 years and have never had one fail.
