will small engine be affected by using a bigger car type muffler?
I want to quiet a generator, and am able to fabricate anything out of steel. Will this shorten the life of the motor or have other effects on engine life?
Its an Briggs and Stratton OVH about 6.5 HP, and it has a flat spark arrestor muffler, its just way too loud.
The only way to guarantee no difference in life or reliability is to make sure the new muffler creates a similar amount of back pressure.
